Edward Burtynsky illustrates how humanity impacts our planet in Saatchi gallery exhibition.
Starting February 14, 2024, the Saatchi Gallery in London will showcase BURTYNSKY: Extraction/Abstraction, an unprecedented exhibition in Edward Burtynsky’s illustrious career spanning over 40 years. This extensive display includes 94 large-scale photographs, 13 detailed high-resolution murals, and an immersive augmented reality (AR) experience, all highlighting Burtynsky’s dedication to capturing the effects of industrial activity on the Earth. A special feature of the exhibit is the debut of the Process Archive, which offers insight into Burtynsky’s innovative use of emerging photographic technologies over the years.
While the photographs may captivate us with their beauty, they serve as a poignant reminder that “less is more” in our consumption habits. This perspective encourages us to prioritize sustainability, advocating for the purchase of products that align with environmental stewardship. By choosing to support sustainable goods, we not only appreciate the aesthetic allure of our surroundings but also contribute to preserving the natural world for future generations.
